Blog Post #2

My partner and I have made some great progress on our documentary. So far we have video taped one person and asked him numerous questions about his lifestyle. We video taped a 12 year old boy named Kyle who has aspergers. This experience was very emotional, watching him tell his story and how his disability has effected his life. Taping him helped me learn how alienated someone can feel.
Something IO learned about myself was that I don't really pay much attention to people like Kyle, not to say that I ignore or bully them but I have never stopped to think how they feel or how they live their lives as well as what struggles they undergo.
My partner and I have not had much time to interview more people, however we do have a list of people that we would like to document when we get the time. This weekend Kelsie and I are planning to complete another interview of someone with a son who has a severe case of autism.
With what I have learned I plan to show the community the exact struggles that people go through and how it hurts and effects them.

  1. I think that interviewing multiple people is a good idea because that way we get to see multiple stories and perspectives. Having two autistic cousins myself, I know how different each case is and its a good thing that you are presenting that in your documentary. I suggest you interview their family members as well to get an even broader view on how it affects people around them. How many people total do you plan to interview?

  2. I believe what you are doing is a great thing to do. All people should be equal no matter what. My question is how long do you plan making this documentary? Will it depend on how many people you will be planning on filming? I think personally not to many people should be filmed and you more discussing what should be changed cause you don't want the documentary to be long making others tend to lose interest. Me and a few friends of mine can help with anything film editing if you need help.

  3. Taping his story was a great idea! It will definitely open peoples eyes and appeal to their emotions. Maybe you could also interview their family or friends to help with the video. Will every blog have a video with an interview?

  4. I'm looking forward to watching this documentary. But my question is how long is it and how many people are you planning to interview? I think if you interview too many people their stories wouldn't have as much of an impact or deeper connection.
